Freediving champion Tanya Streeter travels to a remote corner of Indonesia to meet the Bajau tribe, who depend on the reefs that surround them. In Bajau society, free-divers catch fish, octopus and sea cucumbers with spear guns. The best Bajau divers can stay under water for minutes at a time.
This 30 min video was posted on youtube in 3 different parts, but to make your viewing pleasure easier I made one big file of it and show it you in the correct resolution. Enjoy!
thanks man for this great video !
I knew (afcourse) that Tanya is an exceptionel freediver, but this vid goes way beyond “just diving” …
thanks again.
It’s indeed a very good documentary! This is real freediving…
After hearing further information on these people, it seems that a lot of these kids are deaf because they don’t equalize the pressure on there eardrums … how come this “exceptional freediver” doesn’t talk about that ?
Although this video looks nice, I am really pissed off at my self writing a nice post about it (don’t take it personal Jorg, thanks anyway for posting it - we had the same “nice” first feeling about it) …
the purpose of this video is to make this tall blond look good …
a shame
What a coincidence… Last week some guy send me an email telling me about these people and how misinformed we are with this video. I was planning of sending Tanya an email and asking for explanation.
And yes of course, the only thing this stuff is intended for is making her look good and selling the damn video without giving profit from it to those people who are in the video… It happens all the time, and if you think of it… :(((
Fantastic!! Thank you, Tanya and your team for this wonderful story!
Of course the film needs to be sold, of course it’s good to be good looking but… without this film I would not even know that those people existed!…
And yes, part of the profit could be returned to them by teaching them why and how to equalize… It should not take long for such experienced divers to understand…
Thanks again: Volodya
