Last weekend was once again Wiesbaden competition time. It’s always great to go to this competition, because you know the organization will be top notch as always. And once again this year was the same as always, no problems what so ever. I went to this competition together with Sanne and his girlfriend, to see Sanne doing some performances and to check out where he stands these days. Read Sanne his personal report here, on our Team Sharkbait website.
To be honest, I didn’t see all the performances during the competition. We had around 4 hours between Sanne his static and dynamic so we decided to go into the city, instead of sniffing up all the chlorine in the pool. But I managed to catch the performances I really wanted to see. All in all fun time in the pool, city and the car.
So, the competition started with the usual static discipline. There were some pretty good performances and for me the surprise in that discipline was for sure the 7:07 minutes from Eric van Riet Paap, which is a new Dutch record (after almost 3 years!). He looked… well be the judge yourself and watch the video.

William Winram started pretty good and took of his crocs at around 6 minutes into his static. At 7 minutes he came out and he was clearly in trouble. A beautiful example of some post blackout movements and one of the biggest LMC’s I have ever seen. I got it all on video! But… I promised William to keep it private. Bidding on eBay will start tonight!
Dynamic was also running smoothly and everybody was waiting for William to enter to water again. And what happened next… well I already posted about that few days back! It was just an amazing dive to watch and funny at the same time. Per Westin from Sweden won the dynamic discipline with a clean dive of 150 meters. Claudia Rollero took her time once again to do a 125 meter dive. Great stuff to watch!
Overall winner with the men was Per Westin from Sweden with a 7:03 static and his 150 meter dive, giving him 159,6 points. With the women Claudia Rollero from Switzerland was crowned queen of the evening with a 5:06 static and a 125 meter dynamic, total points 123,7. Congrats to both of them! I felt very strong and I confess l look a bit silly risking a NR just to put on glasses. But what a wonderful feeling looking at all these faces.
