International Conference About Freedive Training

July 25th, 2007

aa_conference_2007.jpgApnea Academy is organizing a very interesting international scientific conference about freedive training. The date for this conference is set at December 1st and 2nd in Lignano Sabbiadoro, Italy and will be attented by a whole list of famous freedivers, scientists and spearfishers.

To name a few freedivers: Martin Stepanek, Carlos Coste, Guillame Nery, Patrick Musimu, Mandy-Rae Cruickshank, William Trubridge, Umberto Pelizzari… That’s already a nice list but it goes on and on with the names of the best spearfishers, researchers and technicians in the freediving world. So all in all a nice list that combined could generate some very interesting stuff.

All these people will bring their knowledge and experience together to discuss training techniques and theory for both freediving and spearfishing. In the end the conference will be closed with a reasoned summary of the issues discussed that could serve as a general guideline for the future. During the 2-day conference the participants will be able to discuss and question everybody there. There is even a possibility on saterday evening to go into a pool and try out all kinds of different equipment.

All in all this sounds like a really interesting conference to go to and it’s open to everybody. Conference will be done in English and Italian with Umberto Pelizzari as the chairman of the discussions.

More info and an inscription form can be found here. Cost for the conference is only 30 euro for 2 days if you enroll on time.

So if all the readers do a small donation, I will go there with my video camera, tape everything, write a complete extensive report and put all the video’s and report online! Let the donations begin. Maybe it’s time to put some ads on this page, so I can collect money to do such trips to events. ;)
