Herbert Is Warming Up
Only 12 days to go and then we will witness the live internet video coverage of Herbert’s attempt to dive to 700 feet no limits style. Put it in your calendar, write it down, and remember to go to this page on June 16th, 5:00 PM GMT.
In the upcoming days you will probably see some more posts about Herbert and his record attempts. As you may know from my previous article, Herbert told AIDA he wants to do performances in all world record disciplines except dynamic. I put it off by saying that that is Herbert strategy and he will see how it goes and what feels best and go for 1-2 records in the end. Well it seems that Herbert is in the best shape of his life! In the last week Herbert has done his pre-requisites. These are performances that come close to the current world records, so that AIDA knows for sure that we don’t have some jackass trying to do a stupid stunt. And because Herbert is no jackass he managed to do:
- 8:58 static
- 104 meters Free Immersion
- 79 meters Constant no fins
- 109 meters Constant weight
He already has done the No Limits pre-requisite because he’s the current world record holder. Nice privilege to have. All in all already a very nice list to start with. I guess it gives him loads of confidence. So the only thing left is variable weight. Well, that last one is on schedule for tomorrow, and I have no doubt that he will manage to do it as well. I’ve got some more info lying around about this event, but I’ll put it in the following post.
[…] my last post that there would be a live broadcast of the dive but it seems that the date and time I told you over there is for the press conference the day before. The 214 meter/700 foot dive will take place on June […]

Jorg, I am afraid your data is a little bit out of date
Herbert did World Records of 9:04 STA, and 111m CWT since a few months ago, and Apnea Mania shows his CNF PB as 80m. In contrary, I see only 103m at FIM, but believe you that he did more since that time (most of the PB at Apnea Mania are out of date too).
Yes, I know about Herbert his personal bests/world records. The performances I mentioned are performances you have to do as pre-requisites before you can actually do a world record. For example: if herbert wants to do 214 meters with no limits, he first has to do a 208 meters max 3 months before the planned attempt, before he can continues to do such a dive.
For example for constant and free immersion it’s 3 meters short of the targeted depth, for dynamic it’s 5 meters and static 15 seconds.
So the performances mentioned above are done by Herbert in the last weeks.
Ah, ok, I see now. I was reading too fast, just starring at the numbers so was little bit surprised by them
