Apnea@Altitude 07 Results

Lake_Taupo.jpgLast weekend Apnea@Altitude 07 took place in and near Lake Taupo near Rotorua, New Zealand. If you click on the link you can see the lake, which looks very promising. It’s based at 370 meters above sea level and 164 meters deep. The first day of competition was constant weight with and without fins. Dave Mullins did a beautiful 80 meter dive to set a new National Record for Constant Weight. After 15 minutes Ant Williams went 2 meters deeper to 82 meters to set it again on his name. Kathryn McPhee set a new Womens National record in Constant weight No Fins with a depth of 31 meters.

ant1.jpgNext day was pool work with again some excellent results. Ant Williams did a 6 minutes static and a 194 meter dynamic but was DQ for the last one. But still it clearly show his potential. Kathryn who set a national record the day before did a 4:16 min static and a 110 meter dynamic but was also DQ for the dynamic.

Ant Williams commented about the competition, “What a killer comp! Thanks a ton to Fran and Tracy of AIDA NZ and the legendary support crew who put on such an unreal event. The level of professionalism with the NZ comps is up there with the best.” So good work over there in New Zealand, which looks like a great place to freedive.
